We chose this almost human sculpture for the incredible surface detail that was given by the artist. One can read the fingerprints, skin texture and almost the hairs of a human hand.
The strong hand gesture that directs your eye, draws inspiration from Miguel Angelo the "Creation of Adam" which the artist says "was a non-intentional correlation at first sight".

Iva has an obsession for hands. She is a long-term observer of people's hand's movements, gestures or positions and other body details. We can find at her atelier studies of fingers, ear and noses which make part of her love for what is simple and beautiful in Nature.

Inspired by the traditional techniques of stucco moulding, Iva Viana develops and executes at her atelier objects that arise both from the fascination with the heritage left by the Portuguese masters and the desire of reinterpreting it.
The "creation hand" by Iva Viana is an intriguing classic piece that exudes strength and physicality when displayed alone in a minimalist setting.
